• Soda Is the New Tobacco

    Glass of Cola

Ever since Barack Obama floated the idea of a soda tax, oh-so-caring
politicians have been lining up to save you from yourself. Ka-ching.

    By Selwyn Duke

First it was tobacco, with Al Gore, who grew the plant but never
inhaled, preaching against it. Next it was SUVs, with Arianna
Huffington warning that it was unsustainable for the average American
to use one-tenth the amount of energy she does. Then it was the
anti-tranny crowd, with localities all over banning trans-fats. Now
it’s little boys’ bubbly, soda, which little boy San Francisco Mayor
Gavin Newsom calls “the new tobacco.”

Yes, the “sin tax” crowd is at it again, preaching health and seeing wealth.

  • Guest Piece: Obama’s Economic Legacy: Success? Or, Failure?

    Financial Crisis

    By Marilyn Barnewall

    One
definition of insanity is continuing to do things the same way but expecting
a different result. Understanding that, one must ask the obvious question:
Why does the Obama Administration keep doing the things that got the U.S.
economy in trouble? It exemplifies one of three things: Insanity, duplicity,
or stupidity. I suppose incompetence could be added to the list.

Here is the slogan that should become the rallying cry of the anti-Obama resistance:

  • Nickelodeon Wants School Kids in Changing the System

Communist Flag Children’s network Nickelodeon is well-known as a purveyor of
propaganda, and now it’s participating in a new program that encourages
    kids to “change the system.”

    By Selwyn Duke

It used to be that the stuff of children’s programming was Wile E.
Coyote’s perennial hunt for the Roadrunner and Bugs Bunny playing it
cavalier with the Tasmanian Devil, but those days are long gone. Now
youth are treated to highly politicized fare, and one of the latest
examples is a new program called “Get Schooled,” which was launched on
Sept. 8 by, among other entities, Nickelodeon.

And disgorging ideology on steroids is completely in character for the
children’s network. As pundit Michelle Malkin has reported, it once said that the Battle of the Alamo was fought so “white farmers could keep their slaves” and a few years later peddled pro-illegal alien propaganda.

  • Wild, Wild Kanye West

    By Selwyn Duke

Everyone has seen the video of Kanye West running up onto the stage and snatching the microphone away from 19-year-old country music star Taylor Swift at Sunday's MTV video music awards.  West wasn't happy with the choice of Swift as winner and went into a rant about how Beyoncé should have won.  Now, just for the record, I've heard neither Swift nor Beyoncé sing and thus can't render any definitive judgments on this subject.  What I do know, however, is that I wouldn't consider it positive if an over-rated oaf like West was lobbying for me.

  • Japan’s New Government Hopes for Baby Boom
    http://youtube.com/v/eQNg1IOdRhE
Japan is getting serious about remedying the birth dearth that’s leading to the graying of its society. Its government is offering benefits designed to encourage women to have children. Unfortunately for the Land of the Rising Sun, however, governmental solutions cannot solve this cultural problem.

Demographic decline is an under-appreciated threat that imperils all of humanity but the West (and other developed nations such as Japan) in particular right now. It’s something we don’t talk enough about.

  • Guest Piece: Why Obama Could Not Stage a Coup

Bullets on Constitution By Bruce Walker

    Some conservatives have begun to
openly wonder if Obama is going to seize power in America.  Would he want
to do this?  Perhaps so (which is a scary.)  No one dreamed that
Carter, the worst president of the last century, wanted or planned to seize
power.  Clinton wanted to win power, but the worst anyone expected of
    Clinton was Huey Long bossism.

  • Soap Opera Actress Fired in Name of Homosexual Agenda

Sex Symbols-Confusion What happens when there's a clash between holy motivations and homosexual machinations in Hollywood?

    By Selwyn Duke

If a recent allegation made against the ABC producers of "One Life
to Live" is any indication, they could use some soap to clean up their
agenda. Show regular Patricia Mauceri claims she was fired from the
program because she refused to engage in pro-homosexual dialogue
contrary to the religious convictions integral to her character — a
character she helped create based on her own faith. FoxNews.com reports
    on the story, writing:

  • Back to School with Obama: Educational Talking Points 101

    4791348_blog By Selwyn Duke

At high noon today, EDT, Barack Obama issued a challenge to
America’s schoolchildren. In his much anticipated back-to-school
speech, he appealed to students to stay in school, work hard, set
goals, and not use personal crosses as an excuse to fail.

It was, by and large, a message so positive that critics could find
it disarming; and casual, middle-of-the-road observers could wonder why
there was so much fuss over the event in the first place.

    Among other things, Obama said:
