• Climate Change Con: Refuting Al Gore
    http://youtube.com/v/gOKH72yWMd8
This is a great video refuting the rank propaganda belched out by Al Gore. It features prominent climate scientists who aren't peddling an agenda so they can capture government grants. As for Gore, he quite simply is a liar.

This is the first of what may become a regular feature at my site: Audio snap commentary.  For you folks who love the written word, don’t worry, this doesn’t mean I’m abandoning the pen.  But variety is the spice of Web life.  Let me know what you thnk.

  • We Need Something Stronger than SteeleRNC Chairman Michael Steele is inside the box and inside the beltway all the way

    American Politician
    By Selwyn Duke

    Most of us place politicians
down at the level of used-car salesmen, personal injury lawyers and Hollywood
actors.  In fact, they’re much like
actors, only, their acting is generally a bit better.  But we tend to miss the point about our
leaders.  The problem with politicians is
that they’re trying to please us.

  • Obama Gunning for the Second Amendment

    Bullets on Constitution
    By Selwyn Duke

This will seem like a strange way to open a piece of commentary, but the gun owners who voted for Barack Obama believing he respected Second Amendment rights remind me of the bumbling Inspector Clouseau.  Specifically, I think of the scene from "The Return of the Pink Panther" in which Clouseau was getting a real dressing down from his superior, Chief Inspector Dreyfus.  The issue was that Clouseau had naively stood by talking to a "blind" organ grinder outside a bank while the institution was being robbed.  After Dreyfus pointed out that the organ grinder was the lookout for the thieves and Clouseau said that such a thing was impossible because the beggar was blind, Dreyfus asked how Clouseau knew this.  Clouseau replied, "He told me so."

  • Why 2010 Looks Good

    376550_blog
    By Bruce Walker

    Pundits have already begun
looking ahead to the 2010 midterm elections.  Is Obama like Clinton?
Is there a political agitator like Newt Gingrich on the Republican side?
Will the series of Obama goofs in cabinet appointments, the tension within the
Democrat Party, and a downturn in the economy lead to massive voter
dissatisfaction in 2010?  In some ways 2010 may look like 1994, but
Republican hopes in 2010 rest less on how it resembles 1994 than in how it does
    not.  Begin with the basics.

  • The Soulless Beast of Science

    Mad Scientist
Barack Obama has lifted the ban on embryonic stem-cell research,
saying that scientific decisions should be “based on facts, not
    ideology.” But this is nonsense.

    By Selwyn Duke

    Few
of us will soon forget President Obama’s answer to the question of when
human life begins. “That’s above my pay grade,” he said. It was a
flippant remark, yet it was perhaps one of the times he was perfectly
    honest. I’m not being sarcastic.

Like many people, Obama is confused about quite a number of moral
issues. He is not the kind of man who could mount a compelling argument
for when human life begins, for example (nor does he care). And the
same kind of knowledge deficit is evident in Obama’s recent
pronouncements concerning science and stem-cell research. Writes the Associated Press,
“Promoting science ‘is about letting scientists . . . do their jobs,
free from manipulation or coercion . . . .’ Obama said.” But does this
    make sense?

  • Germany Stunned by Shooting Spree
    http://youtube.com/v/LfDoMzng5fQ
This story is about a teen in Germany, Tim Kretschmer, who went on a shooting spree and murdered 15 people.

Now, in response to this, we'll hear all the usual nonsense. First and foremost, you can bet that the gun-control nuts will use this as a pretext to create even more laws restricting firearms possession. Yet, the real problems won't be addressed.

What are they? For one thing, how much do you want to bet that this teen, who we're told was "depressed" and had been undergoing "treatment," was on psychotropic medication? It's a safe bet, since all or virtually all the young rampage shooters over the last 15 years have been (there are facts about this here).

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to be simplistic. I'll be the first to say that the main problem relating to this is the spiritual/moral malaise sweeping the West (of course, that's why so many of these people are depressed in the first place). But I do tire of the shallow, one-dimensional media coverage of these incidents, where there's nary a mention of the undeniable link between the behavior in question and psychotropic medication use.

The news coverage isn't surprising, however. The media hate guns, but you can bet your bottom dollar that a high percentage of its members use psychotropic drugs themselves or have loved ones who do so. Medication is big business.

I'll close with some food for thought. While I don't consider Sweden to be the gold standard for governance, I will mention something relevant here relating to that nation:

Ritalin has been illegal in Sweden since 1971.

  • Why Stop With Global Warming?

    Ice Age
    By Bruce Walker

The heavy artillery of the Left has been wheeled into a line
of barrage:  global warming is real; global warming is man-made; and if
government does not stop, terrible things will happen.   This means
that we cannot save ourselves unless we are willing to make draconian
sacrifices, to surrender our liberties to government, and  to accept
blindly the latest version of politically-correct science.

  • The Dark Truth about Socialized Medicine

    By Selwyn Duke

George Mason University economics professor Walter Williams has penned another excellent article, this time about socialized medicine.  And since he relates the truth, it’s not a pretty picture.  He talks about how the health-care systems in Britain, Canada and Sweden are running on fumes, and in particular I call your attention to the following paragraph:
