• Defending Prince Harry

    By Selwyn Duke

Most of you have probably heard about the racial accusations being hurled at Prince Harry of England.  The story is that he was caught on tape with his military outfit issuing utterances that didn't sit too well with the tea-time-and-plum-pudding types back at home.  What was his offense?  He referred to a fellow soldier of Pakistani descent as "our little Paki friend" and told a white comrade wearing some type of headgear that he looked like a "raghead."  For this he has been demonized as a racist.

  • Guest Piece: The Reality of Sustainability

    By Jack Swift

(Editor's note: This piece is one of the most brilliant analyses of our economic problems I have read.)

    What
    is Sustainability?

    The
recent election focused upon the American voter’s dis-satisfaction
with the state of our government and the state of our economy. Each
campaign played upon this angst by pitching “change” but
neither candidate articulated a vision of what is wrong or what might
be an effective cure. The national change required is far more fundamental
than anything suggested by the politicians. The problem is one of sustainability.

  • People Who Want to be Crippled

This video is about people who crave amputation.  It's one of the weirdest things you will ever have heard, even if you live in San Francisco.

  • Mailbag: Duke, You’re Insensitive! How Dare You Doubt the Altered Men!

    By Selwyn Duke

After writing my piece about the man who won the women's long drive contest, I received a lot of criticism from altered-men apologists.  One of these critiques was just posted at my site, and here it is as it was sent to me (my response follows):

  • Man Allowed in Women’s Athletic Event . . . and Wins It

    By Selwyn Duke

A man undergoes the mutilative procedure known as
“gender-reassignment surgery” and then wins the women’s division of
    golf’s premier long drive championship.

There was a time when a sexual identity crisis was thought a problem of adolescence and only discussed in psychology journals. But
now our whole civilization is experiencing one, as we’ve gone from
confusion about the roles of the sexes, to a battle of the sexes, to a
battle about how significant the category of “sex” actually is, to
subordinating it to “gender,” and finally to a battle of the “genders.”

  • Flight 93 Memorial Rife with Moslem Symbolism; Points toward Mecca
    http://youtube.com/v/Y4z1QN6m_QI
It seems fairly obvious that the the planned Flight 93 memorial in Pennsylvania was designed around Moslem symbolism. The architect denies it, but, as others have pointed out, architects are intensely aware of symbolism, so it's not believable that the design is an accident. It's another example of the great cultural patriots among us.

  • Valkyrie: The Real Col. von Stauffenberg

    Valkyrie-r
    By Selwyn Duke

On a sultry July day in 1944, a man walks into the "Wolf's Lair"
carrying a briefcase. He is initiating a bold plot, one that aims to
assassinate one of the world's most ruthless and powerful men, Adolf
Hitler, and topple the whole of his Nazi government. Integral to this
ambitious coup is what lies in his briefcase, a bomb.  It is set to
detonate … the wheels are in motion. It is only a matter of time now.

The man was Claus Philipp Maria Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg, the
driving force behind what became known as the July 20 plot and the main
character in Valkyrie, the recently released movie about the
event. The film seeks to acquaint the audience with this hero and the
conspiracy of which he was part, yet it depicts the machinations better
than the man. And this is a shame, because quite a man he was.

  • Greenhouse-gas Tax on Cows

    By Selwyn Duke

Many of us have long known that the climate-change con is largely driven by a desire to exert further control over our lives and extract more money from us.  But a tax on cow flatulence?   Believe it or not, such a thing could become a reality if a new permit program proposed by the Environmental Protection Agency becomes a reality.  It's all part of an effort to reduce "carbon emissions" (I'd like to reduce liberal ones), and the cost would be steep.  As the New York Farm Bureau (NYFB) tells us:

  • The American Form of Government
    http://youtube.com/v/DioQooFIcgE
This video does a good job of explaining different forms of government and the folly of democracy. I don't agree with every word, but it is nevertheless one of the best expositions on the subject I've encountered.

Hat tip: Walt, the reader who sent us the video.
