• The Mother of All Freudian Slips

    By Selwyn Duke

When we use the term "Freudian Slip," it’s usually in reference to some ironic but meaningless slip of the tongue.  We might poke some good-hearted fun at the possessor of the slipped tongue, but we know we’re making sport of him and don’t really attach much importance to his mistake.  Yet, if ever there was a meaningful Freudian Slip, one that is both profoundly funny and bespeaks of a hidden Truth in a person’s heart, it was John McCain calling himself a "proud liberal."

  • Obama’s Terrorist Associations

    By Selwyn Duke

Author Jonah Goldberg was on Hannity & Colmes last night talking about another one of Barack Obama’s unseemly associations.  He pointed out that the Illinois Lip once consorted with Bill Ayers, a former Weather Underground terrorist who set off bombs as part of his campaign against America.

  • An Apology for Slavery?

    By Selwyn Duke

During the past year, five states have apologized for slavery, and now there’s an effort to follow suit in Congress.  Personally, I find this sickening.  And I’d like to make something clear: If our esteemed "leaders" issue such an apology, they do not do so on my behalf.  Leave me out of it.

  • Real Inconvenient Truths…. About Abortion

    By Selwyn Duke

Out of Britain comes a very sad, sad story. Emma Beck, an artist
tormented by having aborted her twins, was found hanging at her home a
day before her 31st birthday. Expressing her grief and regret in a
suicide note, she wrote: "I should never have had an abortion. I see
now I would have been a good mum."

  • A Great Exposition on Abortion

One of the sad things about philosophical works and social commentary is that some of the greatest examples get lost in the recesses of libraries and the Web and are seldom seen again.  An example of this is "20 Questions for Pro-choice People," by philosophy professor Mike Pakaluk.  Although most college professors are so far left that they’ve left the country,  Pakaluk is a wonderful exception, a man who is truly worthy of the title "philosopher."

  • A Must-read – Kosovo: Islamism’s New Beachhead?

On Friday, FrontPageMagazine.com published an absolutely phenomenal article about our insane recognition of an "independent Kosovo," an action which helps to establish a Moslem beachhead in Europe.  The piece is written by Julia Gorin, and she does an excellent job of placing this matter in perspective, writing:

  • Newsmax: The Real Barack Obama

Ronald Kessler of Newsmax.com wrote a very good piece titled "The Real Barack Obama."   He discusses Michelle Obama’s statement wherein she said, "I am proud of my country for the first time in my adult life."

  • You Could Hear a Pin Drop . . .

Like everyone else, I receive many bulk emails.  Some are nonsensical, some are banal, but then there are a few that are worth relating.  The one that follows falls into that category.  While I can’t be sure that all the events actually happened (how can one be?), it nevertheless makes some important points in a very powerful way.

    It starts out:

When in England at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by
the Archbishop of Canterbury [this is the lunkhead who recommended acceptance of certain elements of Sharia Law] if our plans for Iraq were just an example
of empire building’ by George Bush.

  • Arming the Academy

Virtually all public universities maintain a prohibition against gun
possession on their grounds. But in the wake of the recent campus
shootings, this policy is coming under scrutiny. A chorus of activist
voices, such as an Internet-based group named Students for Concealed
Carry on Campus, is asking authorities to guarantee Second Amendment
rights at public universities. While the activists have a long hill to
climb — only Utah presently allows gun-permit holders to carry their
weapons at such institutions — 12 other states are considering
    following Utah’s lead.

  • The Melding of Man and Robot?

In this modern age, there are technologies coming to the fore with the potential to alter life on Earth irrevocably.   In particular, I’m talking about nanotechnology, genetic engineering and robotics.
