James Watson, the geneticist who helped unravel the structure of DNA,
came under fire for saying that Africans are not as intelligent as
Westerners. Aside from his remarks being deemed baseless and
unscientific, he has quite predictably been labeled “racist.” Why,
some thought police even want him charged under Britain’s Orwellian
“racial hatred laws” (Watson is conducting a speaking tour in Britain
presently).
Much to my surprise, my philosophy piece about the existence of evil evoked a tremendous response. I had assumed that because it wasn’t about matters topical or titillating, it would interest only a few. I suppose this is a testimonial to the erudition of those who imbibe Internet commentary. Anyway, I have chosen three to which I will respond.

So, the health Nazi Arnold Schwarzenegger just signed a bill making it illegal to smoke in your car if a "child" under 18 is present. I must say, I genuinely dislike Schwarzenegger and his smug statism; I don’t cotton to people who are intellectually and ideologically vacuous but fancy themselves true statesmen. But let’s talk about California’s latest measure, enacted against the backdrop of tolerance for all manner and form of extreme perversion (which I won’t name; I’ll just whistle and look at the Folsom Street Fair).

Once again proving that the Nobel Peace Prize is worth about as much as something you’d find in a cereal box, it has been awarded this year to propagandist Al Gore and the United Nations committee on climate change. This, despite the fact that Gore’s film, An Inconvenient Truth, has been shown to be ridden with falsehoods. Of course, the Nobel committee awarded their dubious prize to master terrorist Yasser Arafat in 1994, so who should be surprised? Gore is in good company.
