Recently in the news section we had a Boston Globe piece about how the majority of people born after 1970 are  part of what has been called the "Entitlement Generation."  There also was a story out of Australia not long ago about something quite stupidly dubbed "beach rage"; the article dealt with the fact that lifeguards’ jobs are harder nowadays because bathers don’t want to follow rules.  So now lifeguards are starting to receive training in dealing with the recalcitrant.

Dinesh D’Souza just published a piece about how famous atheist AnthonyFlew has now renounced atheism and believes in God.  Although Flew cannot be praised for timeliness, I suppose he deserves credit for honesty.  After all, it isn’t easy to admit that everything you’ve been espousing for a half a century — everything that has made you famous and that has transformed you into an icon in atheist circles — was wrong.  One really has to be able to swallow his pride, and most are found wanting in that regard.

The matters a society is sensitive about speak volumes.  We have just witnessed a witch hunt  wherein Bill O’Reilly was accused of bigotry for the comments he made after eating at Sophia’s restaurant in Harlem, NY.  O’Reilly’s explanation of his remarks was logical and believable, and, while I find fault with O’Reilly on many issues, he is no bigot.

An organization called votevets.org has turned its guns on Rush Limbaugh, buying advertising time to attack him for his "phony soldiers" comment.  Of course, the only thing phony here is votevets.org.

In the news section today, there are a couple of stories about video surveillance in western cities, most notably New York City and London.  One cites decadent billionaire Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who overtly sanctions this tool of big government.  Of  course, it only makes sense; any effete people would sacrifice liberty for security, right?  Thomas Jefferson be darned.
