When a child isn’t punished for throwing a tantrum and instead gets his way, he repeats the behavior in the future. So it will be with the Left, too, should Donald Trump win the presidency this year. Having gotten away with roiling the country in 2020 and driving him from office (by hook and crook), writes commentator Rich Lowry, they would make 2025 the wildest year politically in American history.

In fact, the Left would launch an “insurrection” (the word has been redefined, remember) that might make 2020 look tame.

Is ours still a government of, by, and for the people? Don’t bet on it, says the smart money fiat currency, if an ex-CIA analyst’s warning is any guide.

In fact, states Dr. John Gentry, currently a Georgetown University professor, it’s likely that in this year’s election “the proverbial deep state within the intelligence community will reemerge because presumably a Republican candidate will again be seen as a threat to the internal policies that many intelligence people like.”

The CIA is well schooled in such activities, too, having reportedly helped overthrow seven governments since WWII (not counting Trump’s 2020 ouster).

Here’s some food for thought: There are more than 393 million firearms in the United States.

Americans have been buying in excess of one million guns per month for the last four-plus years.

Our nation also leads the world, by far, in number of firearms owned per 100 civilians.

Yet the United States is not in the top 50 countries in murder rate — and may be outside the top 100.

The Hamas terrorist massacre on October 7 in Israel has been big news. Understandably, too. Yet thousands of Christians have also been killed for their faith just this year, with perhaps 200 murdered recently in a Christmas Eve massacre in Nigeria. And while this is just one of many such attacks in that African country — which had seen more than 5,000 Christians killed in 2022 — the Biden administration says nothing. In fact, in February, the administration had removed Nigeria from its religious freedom violators list.

After it was asserted that cow flatulence contributes to “global warming,” some greentopians concluded that all animal agriculture should be ended; this, of course, means eliminating most of the cows on Earth. Given this, with a new study claiming that human breathing also contributes to global warming, should most of our planet’s people be gone, too?

Actually, this has already been suggested, with a World Economic Forum (WEF) advisor saying last year that we “don’t need the vast majority of the population” and that there was a growing class of “useless people.”

So first we heard the pejorative “useless eaters.”

Is it now “useless breathers”?

Every generation in every place has its perils. There was the fall of Rome in 476; the medieval Black Death; the ninth-century Viking occupation of England; and, generally, continual periods of privation, pestilence, and oppression throughout history. Today is no exception, either, and one of the latest challenges, we hear, is plaguing Gen Z: menu anxiety.

No, this isn’t the Onion or Babylon Bee; I’m not suddenly on fire for satire (though it does sometimes feel as if I’m in a Twilight Zone episode).

In the run-up to an election, we so often hear people of a certain political persuasion swear that if ______ (fill in the blank) wins the presidency, they’ll leave the U.S. They never seem to, of course. Yet this doesn’t mean Americans aren’t voting with their feet.

In fact, say some analysts, a “Big Sort” is occurring in which conservative Americans are fleeing liberal states for “red” ones, while leftists are more likely to stay in their “blue” bastions and may even, to a lesser extent, move to such places from more traditionalist locales.

This phenomenon is making Florida, for example, more conservative, say these analysts; and it should mean generally that red states will become redder and blue states, bluer, as the U.S. bifurcates ideologically.

What’s more, this isn’t the only way in which we’re increasingly becoming “two Americas.”

“When people cease believing in God, it’s not that they start to believe in nothing; it’s that they’ll believe in anything,” goes a common encapsulation of G.K. Chesterton’s ideas. This could come to mind, and did, when pondering a question commentator Daniel Greenfield recently asked. To wit:

“How do you create a generation that will believe in anything?”

The point of Greenfield’s piece is, essentially, that we have cultural mutants among us who are ever mutating further. In particular, “After Oct 7, some purple-haired genderqueer activists on TikTok have taken to reading the Koran and are pondering converting to Islam,” the writer relates. “That may seem like a leap, but once you’re a teenage girl who decides to be a boy for internet clout, changing to Islam is less difficult.” No question.

(It also provides something sexual devolutionary agendas don’t: Firm structure, guide rails for living life.)

As Western civilization’s cold civil war heats up, “conservatives” finally appear to be ceasing to be conservative, as in defensive. Last week we heard about a school guidance in England that dials back the “trans” agenda and how Oklahoma schools are nixing DEI and drag queens and welcoming religion. Now, this week, comes a similar story from perhaps the least likely place.

The place is Huntington Beach — in California — and the move is bold. Vowing to be “free of any identity politics and political agendas,” the municipality’s government has eliminated “Pride,” black history, women’s history months, and more.
