• Harvard Dishonesty Researcher Accused of Dishonesty (Fraud) Mounts a Liberty-endangering Defense

    Con ManBy Selwyn Duke

A shocking three-quarters or more of research studies in many fields are bunk, reported the Economist in 2013, illustrating the troubling fact that scientific fraud is far worse than most imagine. Thus is it also troubling that, if a Harvard dishonesty researcher’s actions are any guide, criticizing and ferreting out scientific fraud could become more difficult.

At issue is the work of one Francesca Gino of Harvard Business School. The academic fraud case against Professor Gino appears airtight, but that hasn’t stopped her from suing critics for defamation. The issue?

  • Americans Losing Trust in Experts — and Do Experts Even Know Why?

    2619779_blogBy Selwyn Duke

A good way to frame the problem with “relying on experts” is to consider that a good number of Supreme Court opinions are 5-4. So all these people are supposedly juridical “experts,” but end up on opposite sides of many legal questions.

Another way of saying this is that roughly half of them are often wrong.

This should perhaps be considered by those bemoaning, in recent articles, how Americans’ trust in experts is at near-historic lows. For expertise may often be a necessary condition for good policy — but it's not a sufficient condition. More on that later.

  • A 1955 Letter Reveals the Folly of the Left’s Civilization-ending Return to Paganism

Human Sacrifice in JungleBy Selwyn Duke

To modern ears, using the term “pagan” pejoratively may smack of a supposed medieval intolerance, conjuring up images of a robed monk praying in candlelight or, maybe, of a Bible-thumping 19th-century missionary. In fact, pagan status may be considered hip and edgy today, embraced by people who rarely if ever know that the ancient pagans never did or would’ve called themselves “pagans” (the word derives from a Latin term meaning, in part, “incompetent soldier”). But fashions often don’t collide with facts.

And here’s a fact, warn critics: The West has been regressing to paganism, with leftists leading the charge. It may seem like mere triviality, too, but it actually can end civilization.

  • Woman Arrested for Trying to Get Squatters Out of Her OWN Home

    Woman Being ArrestedBy Selwyn Duke

Imagine this scenario: You inherit a home from your parents and put it up for sale. But then, shockingly, you learn that in your absence, squatters have begun living in your house and won’t leave. But then one day you have an opportunity to change the locks and be rid of the freeloading invaders for good, you think.

Only, one of the squatters reports you to the police for doing so — and you get arrested.

Unfortunately for one New York City resident, this scenario isn’t at all hypothetical. In fact, not only did 47-year-old Adele Andaloro end up in cuffs after locking horns with the invading miscreants recently, but she must now worry about their long-term occupation of her home. Why?

  • Gov Report: Diversity Schemes “Counterproductive” and a Waste of Money

    Failure FigureBy Selwyn Duke

It’s ironic, and amusing, that “diversity” partially derives from an Old French word meaning “wickedness, perversity” and, perhaps more fittingly, from a Latin term meaning “contrariety, contradiction, disagreement.” Of course, it doesn’t mean anything approximating that in its standard usage today, yet it may as well if a new government report is any guide.

Compiled in Britain, the report found what research in the United States has also revealed:

Diversity programs don’t achieve their desired goals, can actually be counterproductive, and are, consequently, a waste of billions of pounds (or dollars).

  • Duke on TV: Illegals=More Democrat Power — 3/19/24

Migrants Streaming Across BorderBy Selwyn Duke

We discussed how the statists are importing millions of illegals — a foreign army — to help them achieve unassailable political power nationwide. And part of this involves using these people to steal, via the apportionment process, congressional seats from more conservative states. My segment is the very first one and begins right after the introduction (which is worth watching), at 8:37.

  • Nashville’s Police Are LOWERING Their Standards. Can You Guess Why?

    Banana RepublicBy Selwyn Duke

Does “dumbed down” epitomize today’s America? Many would answer yes, pointing to affirmative-action Ivy League presidents and even air-traffic controllers as cases in point. Now there’s another example, too:

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) is eliminating its “physical ability test.” Why?

It’s not that the recent-years attacks on law enforcement have created a recruiting shortfall (though this could possibly be an exacerbating factor). Rather, the powers that be want to get more women on the force.

  • Gov Equity Official Wants to Burn U.S. Down: “MY Ideology Can Rise From the Ashes”

    Burning HouseBy Selwyn Duke

Talk about saying the quiet part out loud.

People aiming to destroy America will generally deny their motivations and hide behind a facade of “enlightened” civil-rights activism. One Kayla Aliese Carter no doubt often did, too, which perhaps explains her being hired by College Park, Maryland, to be their “racial equity officer.” But she apparently couldn’t contain her passions 24/7. In fact, it has emerged that the tattooed and pierced 30-year-old — who’s given $75,600 yearly to push wokeness via government — proclaimed on social media that she believed in violent revolution against the U.S. to achieve “black liberation.”

“I can’t wait for society to collapse,” she wrote, “so MY ideology can rise from the ashes.”

  • Did anti-white, DEI bias steal a state final spot from a white basketball team?

    Politically CorrectBy Selwyn Duke

Some say it was the worst call they’ve ever seen in high-school basketball.

The scene was the recent NJSIAA Group 2 state semifinal game between New Jersey team Camden — a powerhouse that hadn’t lost to another NJ public-school squad in five years — and underdog Manasquan. Down 46-45 after Camden player Alijah Curry sank a couple of free throws, Manasquan drove down the floor with 5.8 seconds left on the clock. One of its players took a long shot, which bounced off the rim — into the waiting hand of teammate Griffin Linstra, who laid the ball up through the hoop, releasing it with 0.6 seconds left on the clock.

The Central Regional High School gymnasium erupted in celebration, with Linstra’s shot being called good. But then it happened.

A Camden coach ran over and tapped one of the exiting officials, Kevin Torres, on the shoulder, and “a group of Camden coaches pleaded for the referees to meet,” reported NJ.com. The refs then consulted for a short time — and overturned the call. Incredulity among sober observers was the result.

Then there was a secondary result: accusations of anti-white bias.

  • Senator Warns, We’re Losing Kids to “Satanic Cult”; God Has Been Purged

    Satanic CultBy Selwyn Duke

We “are losing our kids to a satanic cult,” said Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) Friday. “We’ve lost our moral values across the country.”

Tuberville made his comments while speaking to approximately 100 GOP delegates at a warehouse in Bluffdale, Utah, while campaigning for U.S. Senate candidate Trent Staggs, a Republican who’s running to fill the seat being vacated by Senator Mitt Romney.
