Britain, the once-proud land that made “knife control” a thing and seized children from parents for a lack of fork control (the kids were fat), is at it again. This time, King Charles III has confirmed, the plan is to prohibit anyone born in 2009 or later from ever buying tobacco. Don’t believe the fearmongers who say this portends the ultimate removal of all freedoms, however: You’ll still be able to recommend a “sex change” for the kids or kill one in the womb.

King Charles touted the anti-tobacco measure Tuesday while speaking to Parliament for the first time.

What would you say about a man who left his home’s back door open all night while going off to be a community watchman in other neighborhoods, but then nonetheless claimed he was being vigilant about his family’s safety?

Perhaps it’s the same thing you’d say about National Security Council spokesman John Kirby. After all, despite his Biden administration having allowed millions of unknown-quantity illegal aliens to cross our border and escape into our country’s interior, the White House official insisted, when asked about the threat this poses, “that we have remained vigilant.”

Kirby had also claimed that he “couldn’t” answer a question about whether it’s “possible” that a terrorist crossed our southern border during these dangerous times. But another government official will answer that question — and did just recently.

First it was “global warming.” Then it was “climate change.” Next was “global climate disruption,” though this never caught on much. Now, needing to ratchet up the political heat, there’s a new doomsday phrase in town: “global boiling.”

As The Guardian put it this summer, quoting the UN’s secretary-general, António Guterres, “The era of global warming has ended and ‘the era of global boiling has arrived.’” Building on this, Guterres really got creative in September and warned that “humanity has opened the gates to hell.” (Funny, some said that happened already when we created the UN.) All this was, mind you, “after scientists confirmed [that] July was on track to be the world’s hottest month on record,” to quote The Guardian again.

Such frightening claims are inevitably followed by arguments about what caused the temperature change. Is it really man-caused — or naturally induced? Or is it a combination of the two? Yet few realize, as the claims are so bold and so jarring, that the debate itself is apparently based on a misconception:

In reality, temperature measurement is so flawed that we don’t really know how much the mercury has risen. The issue?

Caster Semenya, the “woman” runner who made waves years ago dusting female competition while appearing very male, is back in the news. The athlete has just written a new book, The Race to Be Myself; the problem is that most media reporting on Semenya either don’t know, or won’t say, what the runner’s physical “self” actually is.

Reporters may focus on Semenya’s “struggle” to compete — in 2019, rules took effect barring high-testosterone “female” athletes from running in certain events without suppressing their testosterone levels — as if the issue here is the allegedly unjust persecution of a minority. This leaves many observers with the impression that the runner is just another MUSS (Made-up Sexual Status, aka “transgender”) individual. But here’s what the media don’t relate:

Leaked results of medical tests performed years ago informed that while Semenya apparently has external female genitalia, the runner has no womb or ovaries; moreover, Semenya does have an XY (male) genotype, internal testes and, consequently, male-range testosterone levels.

Immigrationist authorities shipped the migrants in during the dead of night. My, observers may wonder, they couldn’t be trying to hide something, could they?

The place is a small Irish town named Buncrana, which had already received migrants, such as Syrians in 2019, without notice. In Buncrana, which is in County Donegal, almost 30 percent of its 6,000 to 7,000 population is already now foreign-born; meanwhile, it’s claimed that 600 of the town’s young people under 25 have left the area, as its services and housing capacity are strained.

So call this a “Great Replacement,” or a small replacement, but for sure is this: Some residents are fed up, to the point that almost 200 protesters recently locked arms and blocked two buses carrying 66 more migrants to Buncrana shelters — that reportedly had only 19 beds.

Oh, these migrants, who claim asylum, are largely (if not completely) young, male, and unvetted.

The question is: What’s the “more”?

Black author and intellectual Booker T. Washington once famously said that there “is another class of coloured people,” whose members “do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.”

If anyone currently fits this bill, it’s one Yaba Blay, a self-professed black “thought leader” who states in her bio that she was named one of “Essence Magazine’s ‘Woke 100’” (yes, they meant that as a compliment). After all, most racial hustlers at least maintain the pretense that if the U.S. would merely fork over billions in reparations to its black citizens, the “healing” could begin and all and sundry could hope to come together and sing Kumbaya.

But not Blay, not today — and not ever. White people, you “can not pay your way out of this,” she warns. “There are not enough reparations in the world.”

No, it’s not a more devastating nuclear weapon. It’s not “Skynet”-like artificial intelligence. It’s not the development of nanobots or a new, gain-of-function-altered virus, either. In a way, though, it’s far scarier:

Some scientists and scholars claim the existence of free will is a myth.

Were this true, the implications for society would be staggering — so much so, that nuclear, AI, or viral destruction might actually be preferable.

Shortly after 9/11, late comedienne Joan Rivers was guest-hosting a radio show and, being wholly serious and commenting on how the terrorist act had shaken society, said (I’m paraphrasing) “All this political correctness is going to have to go out the window.” Of course, what actually happened was that the tragedy-specific emotions and trauma passed, and political correctness just intensified, eventually metastasizing into “wokeness.”

In fact, far from curtailing (im)migration, the borders’ sieve-like character remained, and more Muslims would immigrate to the United States following 9/11 than did during our whole history prior to that fateful day. This brings us to another prediction, one coming in the wake of the October 7 Hamas attack and the resulting pro-Palestinian protests in many Western countries: that, as a Newsweek title puts it, “Emboldened Global Jihad Is Final Nail in Coffin of Mass Migration Delusion.”

Is it, though? Or is this delusion itself?
