• $53M Fines for Politically Incorrect Social Media Posts?

    Silenced ManBy Selwyn Duke

In a move designed to chill free speech, a German “justice” official has proposed fining social-media sites up to $53 million for not swiftly deleting “hateful” posts. Welcome to the new Germany — same as the old Germany.

Justice Minister Heiko Maas, a member of the leftist Social Democratic Party, acknowledged that social-media sites had already taken steps to voluntarily suppress speech. But in issuing his Orwellian proposal, he stated, “‘This isn't sufficient yet’ … citing research that he said showed Twitter deletes just 1 percent of illegal content flagged by users, while Facebook deletes 39 percent,” reports the Associated Press.

  • Female Privilege? Trump Would Be More Popular As a Woman

    Arm-wrestling-Man vs. WomanBy Selwyn Duke

“Misogyny! Many Americans just don’t want to vote for a woman!” This was heard after Election Day as one explanation for Hillary Clinton’s upset loss. But a recent experiment indicates that the Democrat presidential nominee would be even less likable as a man — and Donald Trump would be better received as a woman.

  • The KKK Canary: How We’re Losing Our Freedom of Speech

    Silenced ManBy Selwyn Duke

If Pastor Martin Niemöller’s poem “First They Came” was rewritten for today’s free-speech battles, would the Ku Klux Klan be in the first line? It’s hard to think of a more unsympathetic group, yet tyranny often starts small, sometimes targeting first those that are liked the least. And a current court case involving the KKK serves as a warning: We are slowly, incrementally losing our freedom of speech.

  • Death by Education

    By Selwyn Duke

    Failure Figure

“You must never let schooling interfere with education,” warned 19th-century novelist Grant Allen. Since then, the interference has become profound enough that we could wonder if no formal education is preferable to today’s miseducation. An uninformed person desiring your good health may not treat you; the misinformed physician will mistreat you. In fact, he will violate the Hippocratic Oath with passion, inspired by the conviction that he’s answering a high calling.

By the November 2020 election, approximately 10 million Americans will have died; mostly older, they’re a demographic that generally votes for conservatives. They will be perhaps more than replaced, though, by approximately 16 million young people who will turn 18 between now and then. Yet these new voters won’t fill their elders’ shoes: They’ll disproportionately cast ballots for hardcore statists, perhaps being the most “liberal” group of 18-year-olds in American history.

While much of their malformation is due to popular culture and poor parenting, another factor is something Abraham Lincoln addressed when saying, “The philosophy of the classroom today will be the philosophy of government tomorrow.” Many think of education as being just about the three r’s, which today, lamentably, have become racism, relativism, and revisionism. Yet whatever form the r’s take, education could never be limited to them — man’s nature precludes that.

  • United Nations Pushes “HeforShe” Dolls for Boys

    HeforShe DollsBy Selwyn Duke

There certainly have to be some intermediate steps between your son’s birth and his ingestion of puberty-blocking drugs and subsequent “gender-reassignment surgery,” and the United Nations is on the case. It has joined forces with a new company to push dolls for boys so your child can get in touch with his “feminine side.”

Writes PR Newswire, “HeForShe, UN Women's global solidarity movement for gender equality has teamed up with start-up company … Boy Story to launch two special edition action dolls named Billy and Mason. The action dolls challenges [sic] current prejudice surrounding boys playing with dolls, and promotes the notion that both boys and girls should have the same opportunity to bond with a special playmate, and that all children, regardless of their gender, need to learn nurturing, emotional intelligence, and empathy.”

Created by Boy Story founders Kristen Johnson and Katie Jarvis, Mason is a “Caucasian/Hispanic doll,” informs Circa, while Billy is “African American” (meaning black, not a North African Arab or white Afrikaner). It was not reported if they live in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury district or NYC’s Greenwich Village, or if they actually identify as boy dolls.

  • Did DOJ Order the Bugging of Trump Tower?

    Man in CrosshairsBy Selwyn Duke

Did the Department of Justice hack the Trump campaign? As the story of possible Obama administration surveillance of the Trump Tower evolves, this has arisen as a distinct possibility.

While dismissed by the Fake News (mainstream) Media as a free-association salvo by a loose-cannon president, Donald Trump’s allegation that Barack Obama monitored communications at his Trump Tower was never too far-fetched.

  • Trump Accuses “Bad,” “Sick” Barack Obama of Wiretapping His Trump Tower Phones

    Spy SilhouetteBy Selwyn Duke

In a shocking allegation, President Trump has accused Barack Obama of tapping the phones at his Trump Tower just prior to the election.

The accusations were leveled in a series of early-morning tweets in which Trump called the ex-president a “bad (or sick) guy,” branded the alleged actions a “new low” and likened them to “Nixon/Watergate.”

  • Gay Day: A Hollywood Film About Coming Out — as Straight

    Sex Symbols-ConfusionBy Selwyn Duke

In this age where “coming out” as homosexual is cheered and turning straight jeered, Hollywood has long been at the forefront of pushing the pink front. Thus is the recently released film I Am Michael an eyebrow-raising anomaly, portraying the true story of a homosexuality activist who left his former ways, married, and became a Christian minister.

Debuting at the Sundance Film Festival in February 2015 but not released for distribution until late January, the movie features A-list actors James Franco, Emma Roberts, and Daryl Hannah. It tells the story of Michael Glatze, who went from opining that Christian fundamentalists should burn in Hell to the business of keeping people out of it.

  • Sorry: Still No Proof Gun Control Decreases Murder and Mayhem

    Ar15By Selwyn Duke

In this age of waxing laws and waning freedoms, a notable exception to the pattern of ever-tightening restrictions is gun prohibitions. New Hampshire no longer requires a license for the carrying of a concealed, loaded firearm; Florida is considering eliminating all “gun-free zones” (e.g., at schools); and Iowa may institutea “Stand your ground” provision and lower the age at which children could use handguns, to cite a few examples.

Such measures are politically palatable because, increasingly, Americans don’t believe in gun control—except insofar as it means hitting your target. Related to this, fear of government intrusion after Barack Obama’s 2008 election sparked a firearms-buying spree; likewise, many more black Americans are reportedly now purchasing guns in the wake of Donald Trump’s ascendancy.
