• Responses to “Obama: Fear and the Security Force”

My recent piece, "Obama: Fear and the Security Force," evoked more responses than perhaps any other article I've ever written.  Many of them were very worthwhile contributions, and I've chosen three that I'm sure you'll find interesting.  In the first one a reader posits a theory as to the purpose behind Barack Obama's Universal Voluntary Public Service program, and the remaining two are from people who believe that the idea is eerily, and ominously, familiar.  They're worth your time.  So first we have James of Florida, who wrote:

  • Morphing Marriage in California

It’s said that history repeats itself. Nevertheless, we seem to live
in unprecedented times, and a case in point is the issue of faux
marriage. There certainly have been civilizations that accepted
homosexuality – the ancient Spartans institutionalized it in their
military training camps, for example – but I don’t know of even one
that took such leave of its senses that it proposed to sanction
    homosexuals’ pretense at marriage.

  • How Obama Got Elected: Interviews With Obama Voters
    http://youtube.com/v/mm1KOBMg1Y8
This video is the result of a project that examined the knowledge of Barack Obama voters.  Not surprisingly, the Obamabots featured here — and they simply reflect the results of a credible poll, mind you — are profoundly ignorant.  They are the reason why I have long said that most people shouldn’t vote.

Interestingly, they seem to know lots of negative things about Sarah Palin and Republicans in general but nothing negative about Obama.  I wonder why this might be, hmm.  Can anyone say "media bias"?

  • Duke’s Reponse to Loving, Angry Atheists

The great G.K. Chesterton once said, "Really, there are only two kinds of people: those who accept dogmas and know it, and those who accept dogmas and don’t know it."  If you want to read the musings of those in the latter category, you need look no further than the hostile postings left under my article about would-be philosopher king Richard Dawkins.  These individuals are some of a legion of folks under Dawkins’ delusion.  In fact, so dogmatic are they that they never even gave the piece I wrote its day in court in their minds.  So here is my response to them.

  • Obama: Fear and the Security Force

    In
all my life I have never seen such intense emotion surrounding a leader as that
evoked by Barack Obama. Even Ronald
Reagan, the Gipper himself, didn’t enjoy the kind of prostration of the will
offered to the president-elect by hordes of followers. Yet, while people the world over are imbued
with “hope” and chant Obama’s slogan “Yes, we can!” – for instance, the French are
using their translation of it, “Oui, nous
    pouvons
!” – some of the intense emotion is of a very different species.

  • Atheist Richard Dawkins’ Fairytale Thinking

    Richard_dawkins
    By Selwyn Duke

If ever there was a man who was out of his depth, it’s biologist Richard Dawkins.  For those who don’t know, Dawkins is a standard bearer for the atheist movement.  He travels around the world arguing against faith, intelligent design, and just about anything indicating even in some tangential way that something may exist beyond the material fold.  It’s a bizarre obsession, really, and I can assure you that what lies at the heart of it isn’t at all scientific, but emotional.  But more on that at another time.

  • Where Does Obama Get His Ideas? Mao?

    Maoobamawritings_quote2_3
    By Selwyn Duke

Most of us have heard about how Barack Obama has lifted language from others, people such as Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick.  It’s what prompted Hillary Clinton to say in one of the primary debates that Obama’s words didn’t constitute change you can believe in but ". . . change you can Xerox" (a truly great line, which proves that Clinton didn’t think of it herself).  Now, I won’t accuse him of plagiarism, as that is a specific charge and his actions may not rise to the level of it.  Yet, I do have to wonder whom Obama is borrowing ideas from.  For example, consider the following chilling comparison (read the rest; believe me, you’ll want to see a larger version of the image on the left).

Even before the election, with the
realization that a Barack Obama presidency lay on the horizon, many saw a
silver lining in the cloud that drifted into Washington, DC, from the left
coast. “The right will be re-energized,”
many thought, “and we’ll have a better Republican candidate and improved
prospects in 2012.” Moreover, it was
figured that Obama will exacerbate a bad situation, causing a meltdown in our economy
and emboldening enemies without and within, thereby creating fertile ground for
a Republican victory. Of course, the GOP
nominee may in fact be better four years hence, although he is far more likely
to be so in terms of persona than policy. But his prospects are a different matter.

  • College Professor Whines about Her Financial Woes

    By Selwyn Duke

What many don’t want to mention about our financial crisis is that the greatest culprit is individual irresponsibility.  This is because many of us are part of the problem, and we don’t own up to this for two reasons.  Most obviously, people don’t like to admit fault.  But an even greater factor is that Westerners now have such high expectations for lifestyle, such a feeling of entitlement, that they are usually oblivious to the fact that much of what they demand in life should be considered icing on the cake.  Consequently, they live beyond their means when they otherwise would refrain from many purchases unless they could be financed with disposable income.  Many confuse wants with needs.

It’s hard to shock a man living in a planetary insane asylum, so it doesn’t raise my eyebrows when I watch a people commit suicide.  Nevertheless, I had to shake my head when I read about how Barack Obama’s election has inspired France to consider affirmative-action policies to combat their dreaded "white political and social elite."  Weighing in on this pressing problem is none other than singer, esteemed intellectual and French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.  Writes Cnews.canoe.ca:
