One reason the USSR had so much trouble subduing tiny Finland during the Winter War (1939-’40), and took staggering casualties, was that the Soviets had elevated officers based not on ability but on ideological priorities. The lesson is that anytime merit is subordinated to anything, the casualties are quality and competence.

Fast-forward 84 years and we still haven’t learned this lesson. An affirmative-action mentality reigns today, with its latest and most aggressive incarnation being “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” (DEI). And, warns billionaire industrialist and visionary Elon Musk, “People will die due to DEI.”

While DEI infects most everything, Musk was addressing air travel in particular. The issue currently? It’s not the dumbing down of the air-traffic-controller corps; that already happened under the Obama administration. Nor is it United Airlines’ plan to ensure that 50 percent of the 5,000 pilots they train in the next decade will be women or people of color (I guess those people of no color can’t be seen in the cockpit); that was announced already in 2021.

It’s now well known that disgraced ex-Harvard president Claudine Gay scammed her way into higher education’s upper echelons, engaging in plagiarism and benefiting from prejudice. But far from an anomaly, says one observer, Gay merely reflects an academia so morally and intellectually bankrupt that it is itself a scam.

Making his case today at American Thinker, commentator Mike McDaniel takes us on a trip back in time, starting with something called “the Sokal Hoax.”

More shocking than what makes news, sometimes, is what doesn’t make news. So it is with the striking admission from Hungary’s president, made during a New Year’s address, that in “many families, there is almost constant sickness, as if our immune systems have been weakened.”

When hearing such an eye-popping claim from only one non-mainstream English outlet — in this case, website Gates of Vienna (GoV) — one of course wonders, “Is this legit?” But it absolutely appears to be, which means that an equally big story is how it’s being ignored.

When a child isn’t punished for throwing a tantrum and instead gets his way, he repeats the behavior in the future. So it will be with the Left, too, should Donald Trump win the presidency this year. Having gotten away with roiling the country in 2020 and driving him from office (by hook and crook), writes commentator Rich Lowry, they would make 2025 the wildest year politically in American history.

In fact, the Left would launch an “insurrection” (the word has been redefined, remember) that might make 2020 look tame.

Is ours still a government of, by, and for the people? Don’t bet on it, says the smart money fiat currency, if an ex-CIA analyst’s warning is any guide.

In fact, states Dr. John Gentry, currently a Georgetown University professor, it’s likely that in this year’s election “the proverbial deep state within the intelligence community will reemerge because presumably a Republican candidate will again be seen as a threat to the internal policies that many intelligence people like.”

The CIA is well schooled in such activities, too, having reportedly helped overthrow seven governments since WWII (not counting Trump’s 2020 ouster).

Here’s some food for thought: There are more than 393 million firearms in the United States.

Americans have been buying in excess of one million guns per month for the last four-plus years.

Our nation also leads the world, by far, in number of firearms owned per 100 civilians.

Yet the United States is not in the top 50 countries in murder rate — and may be outside the top 100.

The Hamas terrorist massacre on October 7 in Israel has been big news. Understandably, too. Yet thousands of Christians have also been killed for their faith just this year, with perhaps 200 murdered recently in a Christmas Eve massacre in Nigeria. And while this is just one of many such attacks in that African country — which had seen more than 5,000 Christians killed in 2022 — the Biden administration says nothing. In fact, in February, the administration had removed Nigeria from its religious freedom violators list.

After it was asserted that cow flatulence contributes to “global warming,” some greentopians concluded that all animal agriculture should be ended; this, of course, means eliminating most of the cows on Earth. Given this, with a new study claiming that human breathing also contributes to global warming, should most of our planet’s people be gone, too?

Actually, this has already been suggested, with a World Economic Forum (WEF) advisor saying last year that we “don’t need the vast majority of the population” and that there was a growing class of “useless people.”

So first we heard the pejorative “useless eaters.”

Is it now “useless breathers”?
